New Chapters & the British ambassador the British Ambassador wasn’t there – but it was held at the British Ambassador’s Residence i.e. where she lives. I want to communicate that this Residence is not only the place where the Ambassador lives, it also symbolises a place where British and Chinese ties are strengthened and developed. in Beijing hosted a summer party together on June 8th, with the party theme being “Aristocratic British Lifestyle & Education”. It was a very successful event. New Chapters founders were happy to greet their old friends and meet new ones.

New Chapters was also pleased to have Nicholas Holt, the Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce as our speaker. His international career spanning France, VietnamSingapore and China is a wonderful example of the importance of cross-cultural understanding, not only in one’s personal life but to flourish professionally too.

Inspired by the British aristocracy of old and today (their lifestyle and education), New Chapters founders shared their insights with the parents and particularly the children on how to become rounded, sophisticated individuals who can thrive in the international world. Another motto that New Chapters deeply believes is Roman General Cicero’s saying—“The cultivation of the soul” Cultura Animi—much in the same way that farmers have to cultivate constantly a field, we believe that life is about constantly learning and improving oneself.

Benjamin Franklin once said: TELL ME AND I FORGET, TEACH ME AND I MAY REMEMBER, INVOLVE ME AND I LEARN. New Chapters believe in this quote deeply: the two founders also emphasise as well the benefits of learning by doing and learning together as a family through sharing – not just for the children but also for the adults too.

We also arranged The English Corner for the children during the party. Led by two English teachers, children participated in fun activities linked with speeches.

Thanks to all of our participants for their active participation. We thoroughly enjoyed our Summer Party and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
